I never set configure.ac up to accept a --apl-source-dir=blah' option--it's supposed to discover that itself using
apl
--show_src_dir`but a glitch crept into a prior apl release that's making
it return the wrong source dir when you do that. The quickest solution
is to get the latest copy of apl--that fixes the bug, but give me a
while and I'll stick that ./configure option in.

I just hacked in a '--with-apl=/whatever/dir' option. It has to be an absolute path. (And I do mean "hack"--I fiddle with autoconf only about once a year and my brain rusts out in the intervals.)

OK, thanks! I have to go today for a while but I'm eager to try it out. It sounds super useful. :)

I'm sorry I put two separate issues in one post... the error that's stalling my build is the missing edif_config.h.in
when I run configure with no arguments. The configure log I posted is from that run.
I had just mentioned the --apl-source-dir=arg Location of the GNU APL source code.
option since I saw it when running configure --help
.
Edit: Aha. I ran autoheader
, automake
, then autoconf
and then configure
seemed to work. I can never remember when I need to run some or all of these autotools to properly prepare a new build. Now it compiles for me, thanks.
Maybe add a note to the README
or INSTALL
on how to prepare using autotools
prior to running configure
?
Once I could build, it seems to work great with nano
, wonderful! :)
I am hitting a failure at the configure stage. Is this file missing from the git repo or is it an autotools version issue? As well, attempts to invoke configure with the explicit --apl-source-dir fail indicating the option is not recognized.
