Seems to be happening a lot lately with Chrome 77 and 78 and Fauxbar 1.8.1.
As in, if Chrome asks if you'd like to restore previous tabs, Fauxbar senses a single New Tab Page when Chrome launches, opens its own New Tab, then closes the first tab that Chrome opened, which seems to make Chrome forget its previous tabs.
I believe this is Fauxbar's option of Fauxbar > Options > General > Tab Override not playing nice when Chrome tries to restore from an improper shutdown.
Chrome 80's "restore tabs" feature seems a lot more graceful than previous versions, even with Fauxbar's "Override Chrome's New Tab button" option enabled.

Possibly affects Fauxbar Lite too.
Need to investigate.
