ChrisTitusTech commented 2 years ago

I have used this toolbox for the tweaks recently and it is a really good tool, thank you for that. It's just that I wanted the location services to be enabled so that I can use the find my device feature in windows. But apparently, I can't because there's this message that says "some features are managed by your organisation" and I can say that it's a side-effect but please help me turn this feature on! Undo Tweaks function in the tool isn't helping either.

I'd recommend submitting an issue with https://github.com/ChrisTitusTech/winutil/issues/ - Be sure and detail what setting or feature is locked so I can fix it though.

Hey I have been using your windows debloater for a long time! Your old tool had option of enabling and disabling system of icon tray,
but new version of the app doesn't have option like that! I'm currently having trouble to enabling icon tray after disabling it with your old tool!

i want to reset window update and after click on window update (out of box) settings and the toolbox came freeze, on powershell it show sleeping for 60m before ...

LanaSama commented 2 years ago

Hey @ChrisTitusTech I used your tool back in July of 2021 and I may have disabled something that broke my windows store (if that is even possible). And now I cannot for the life of me get the xbox app to work. I tried your new app cause I can't get into the old one and undid everything and it didn't fix it. Do you know if your older tool could have done that? I know your new one doesn't. Just grasping at straws here.

burnz568 commented 2 years ago

Hi @ChrisTitusTech!! This new version is great.

But can you include ms-resource:appDisplayName??? (sorry not sure if this is the one) This script dont work on newly installed Windows 10. The old script of your works.. i think it dependent on this. Thank and more power

BluelagoonStudio commented 2 years ago

Rofl, last week I got stuck with a rogue update, I did the necessary acts, to flush the updates cache, but now I notice it in the new GUI, great work Chris. These rogue updates can be a pain in the *ss.

treybillingsley commented 2 years ago

Hey I think something in the tweaks is breaking GeForce experience for me. It always gives me an error on launch.

hamzaxd11 commented 2 years ago

Hey Chris! Running your script prevents me from changing my lock screen wallpaper. Ive tried every possible fix but only restoring my pc to before running the script fixes it. Please check this issue.

Modelsson commented 2 years ago

Hey Chris! Great tool! But the program update feature breaks any programs updated by it. I can't access them, running the program does nothing... Your tool was not run on a fresh install of windows 10 and all the affected programs were preinstalled by Ninite. Do you have any advice?

thegeeksoldier commented 2 years ago

Hey Chris, this script is amazing. By chance does it support any switches to automate the run? I spin VMs in my home lab and thought I'd make this part of the automated deployment. Great work!

Yes, we started adding switch functionality, but I haven't completed the automated functions yet.

Hello Chris, thanks for all the work you do on this fantastic script. Will I need to reapply the script after system updates, or should it persist even through large, feature updates? Thanks.

ChrisTitusTech commented 1 year ago

Pretty much after every feature update or cumulative update it will need to be reapplied as windows will reinstall and reset a bunch of settings

Hi Chris! I really love this utility. It saves a lot of time and hassle of doing it manually. I have one question though, every time I run the desktop tweaks, my windows search does not work anymore. I cannot search any installed apps like discord etc. Am I doing something wrong? I did change the windows search service back to automatic startup, but that did not fix the issue.

ChrisTitusTech commented 1 year ago

Windows Search is a nasty thing, as when I'm tearing out telemetry and other spying tools search is heavily involved. I'd recommend swapping out to Everything search from voidtools.

Just got this - "WARNING: Teams installation not found Process user: Number Six WARNING: Teams installation not found for user Number Six Process user: Public WARNING: Teams installation not found for user Public" -- and now it seems to hang. Does this have something to do with removing items on the Microsoft Store?

Hello, tool is great, but after tweaks I can't use vpn connection (forticlient) any more...

rjvelasquezm commented 1 year ago

Thanks for the tool! Although I'm running into an issue I cant solve even doing undo tweaks. After running the tweaks the snip tool (when used with they keyboard shortcut) no longer shows the standard edit menu for the snip afterward (just copies snip to the clipboard).

Anyone know how I can get that functionality back? Thanks!

hello, im using 22h2 now, dont have any older iso atm. can it be that ms fucked up gpo policies and we cannot disable websearch anymore as windows 10 pro users? disable bunch of stuff in the gpo, used your script but it keeps searching in the internet when using the taskbar search.

With a debloated Win10 installation, will it be possible to update to Win11??

superhulk117 commented 1 year ago

Is this similar to TronScript? Or can that be used in addition?

thegoodonewasused commented 1 year ago

I run a standard user as my main account in Windows 11. I right click powershell and run as admin then do the program install. The white box says the programs are installed. When I click on the all apps the programs are not there. I also checked the C drive also nothing there. Do I have to change from the standard user account to admin account to install the programs then switch back to standard account?

NatanaelZ commented 1 year ago

Will this affect or prevent Windows 11 updates?

fizd0g commented 1 year ago

Just used your program for the first time on a fresh windows 11 install from somone using it in a tiktok video showing that it brought his memory and cpu usage down though he was using win10. My laptop is a gaming laptop that runs windows 11 and i thought getting cpu and memeory usage down would be a good idea to help games run smoother. however, it didn't. i guess windows 11 like to have 1 to many processes running that i have no clue what they do

k-rku commented 1 year ago

I'm having the same issue as described by "thegoodonewasused" above. I have a fresh install of Win11 (November update), logged in with an Admin user, running powershell as an admin and the Windows tool says that it installed the apps I selected but in reality, they're not there.

paulmyatt commented 1 year ago

"Upgrade installs" seems to update many programs on my PC. Are these ones that I installed previously with Chocolatey (I tried it a couple of years ago) or are these programs that Chocolatey has in its database? I'd like to exclude one or two from upgrade, is there a simple way to do this? All the best and tanks for great utility.

bckelley commented 1 year ago

just went to run this again...why add chocolatey like that man?! Is there a reason to install without the user wanting it?

ak2766 commented 1 year ago

After running this tool, I discovered that my run command history was deleted and it is something I heavily rely on. However, after undoing the settings, new commands I run are still not being saved. So the undo doesn't actually return my system to original state. That leaves a sour taste...
