Hi Chris. I love your app and how nice it is not to have manually run winget to install things. :)

I did run into a small issue with accessing the local user account for a client of mine, and I am sure its nothing more than just wrapping the folder name in double-quotes. The use has '()' in her user name which threw an exception as part of the installation with winget. However, the installation still worked fine, so just a cosmetic fix.

Here is the error message: (the ~~~~ should be underlining her name inside the '(Emma)' but the non-fixed font bugged the alignment up)

Hi Chris. I've got a question. After applying your desktop tweaks the transition speed of the context menu's get much more snappier. But I think it's too much snappy for my liking. Is there anyway I could go back to the stock transition speed without losing any of your other tweaks?

Great tool! I really like it that it shows software alternatives worth trying out. If you want to make a desktop shortcut you can use:

C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe "Start-Process -Verb RunAs powershell 'irm christitus.com/win | iex'" 

(include the last quotes) when making a new shortcut on, for example, the desktop. The first PowerShell command elevates the second PowerShell instance, that runs the command Titus gives you. So no need for "run as Administrator" option needed (this won't work on the shortcut anyway, I found out). Enjoy!

Hey, firstly i want to say thank u for the great tool. It has made my windows experience a lot better. Theres only one issue, whenever i set the recommended tweaks for desktop + disable uac and remove cortana, my windows updates get blocked. And nothing i try works, i went to the registry on both current user and local machine and cant find a dword for it that i can remove. Also i went to gpedit.msc and every option is set to "not configured". Is there a way i can get the updates back ? I also tried to reinstall windows multiple times but nothing changed.

Sup Chris. Your tool did help on battery and processes for my laptop but when I try to reset the update settings with your tool I get this:

The lack of updating to 22H2 break the laptop. Letting it stay ideal doesnt help.

When Enabling Ultimate Performance for Power Options, at least on Win 10 Pro, there is no verification run if this feature was already enabled. So, after i [accidentally] clicked it 4 times, i ended up with 4 versions of Ultimate Performance option in the Power Options menu.

Hey Chris, have you ever seen this script BSOD on a Ryzen 5 5600, 32GB memory on an MSI B550 Gaming Pro MB or any spec similar? For some reason it did that on mine. I may not be running the fastest system on the market, but that was odd.

Chris, I just used the utility and see in the configuration panel "Setup Autologin" This does not seem to work. I first ran it on Windows 10 Professional 64-bit 21H2 (OS Build 19044.1741): I click the button, but nothing happens and when I reboot the machine, I have to press enter on the opening screen and then enter the password. When I got back to the office, I tried it on my Windows 10 Pro 1909 (OS Build 18363.1556) and nothing happens when I click the "Setup Autologin" button. Just a note: 1909 still has netplwiz and my 1909 system is already cleared the check box for "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer."

(possibly to reinstall Edge and Defender) Even if the button just says xxx can not be restored and requires a windows reinstall, that way there is a list of the things you can not restore once you remove them.

It appears the latest version breaks the Security Center after running the desktop or laptop tweaks, Windows asks you enable the Security Center, when you try to start the Security Center service it fails with Error 1067: the process terminated unexpectedly. the only way ive found to fix it is to do a system restore.

Even if i restrict any change to the group directive after uninstalling the tool, it always appears a "this setting is managed by your organization" text above a lot of windows settings. I even tried your code and it doesn't work, restarted all the tweaks and remains the same. I'm literally praying for anyone who can help me rn, i can't restart my computed due to work and time.

the uninstall edge is really cool cuz it is also uninstalling the legacy edge and even that it is blocking to not being reinstalled back after cumulative update. but since edge chromium is becoming more popular maybe there is a way to bypass uninstalling it? i would like to still use edge chromium and i can install it back, but i cannot launch it anymore after tweak. i found that it is possible to launch it if i move it into another folder. but here is still a problem. it is not updating. is there a way to revert a part of the tweak that allow me to use edge chromium later? thanks.

Would it be possible to add a button which removes the Organisation that is controlling some of the settings in Windows and in Microsoft Edge? As this is would be very helpful to when there is an unknown organisation controlling some settings and we have to remove them manually from registry or something like that. Adding this to your tool will be very helpful

Hi Chris, been using this and also spent $10 on the desktop tool equivalent. Via both.... Winrar installation from chocolatey doesn't work No option to install teracopy from chocolatey. Obvs you may not think this is important but I use it and think it's great (& reassuring) so just wanted to shout out for considering its possible future inclusion...

Hi Chris, I am loving your app, thanks for putting it online! I have a Word issue that I have encountered a few times. When Word is newly installed in a new laptop, a 'search word' with the Windows button will find both document titles and word document contents for the given word. After a while 1 month or so the 'search word' is only found if existing in the Word document title. not in the content any more It is my work laptop so I can't just easily uninstall Word and reinstall it. Hopr there is a tweak. Thanks a lot!

I went through the winutil.ps1 and see OneDrive scattered throughout but is there anyway to provide the specific scripts for say for the remove OneDrive tweak?

I want to push out the OneDrive removal using MECM.

It would be nice to see the actual code being ran from the GUI.

Let me say thanks for all your work. I stumbled across something you may or may not know, WINGET WILL NOT WORK if windows firewall is turned off.

Your script wasn't working for me. WINGET for what ever reason wasn't on my Win10 machine, and as I was trying to install the WINGET package but it kept failing. I so happened to read the red letters on my power shell screen and noticed a reference to windows firewall. Turned the firewall back on and sure enough, the package installed and your script started working with WINGET 100%.

Turn the firewall back off and your script stopped seeing my winget installer and all packages seemed to fail.

I found this site https://privacy.sexy/ where if you go down to "privacy over security" it can turn defender and the firewall on and off. You can even download the .exe and turn them on and off without being connected to the internet. I'm not sure how he does it, but I thought I would share since this may be part of your problem with WINGET. Or at least you should warn people that firewall has to be active for your script to work with winget.
