I would be interested in seeing a "log console" plugin which would hook the 
logger and display it in the GUI in real time.

In retrospect, this feature isn't very practical. There is no good place to put 
such a widget (except for perhaps a free floating window), in which case, 
simply running it from the command line suffices.

if someone disagrees, feel free to reopen the bug :-).
