Pull in default photos #25

See if there is a way to automatically grab public information like social media accounts and photos based upon the email address entered when a new user is created. Having photos pulled in automatically would make the interfaces look much nicer without requiring extra work by church staff.

I believe this can be somewhat accomplished with Gravatar. I will see if there are other options.

jzongker commented on Apr 13 I think this is a dead end. The photos on gravatar are too low of resolution to be useful and only a low percentage of people will have them. Facebook no longer allows looking up users by email via GraphApi. There would be privacy concerns with other potential services.

jzongker commented on Jun 1 I didn't really look into the Twitter and LinkedIn APIs. It looks like it may be possible via those options. There is a paid option from https://www.fullcontact.com/ that does this too. Perhaps they offer a free tier or there's an open source alternative to their API.
