@meichthys ChurchCRM has had a few new releases since this was last discussed. Are you still experiencing this issue? If not, can we close this?
@DAcodedBEAT I tried upgrading to the latest. I was on 4.4.5 which tried to upgrade me to 4.5.4, but the upgrade failed:

After the failed upgrade I was still able to access the web interface and the sidebar was saying that I needed upgrade to the latest version which I tried and also failed with the same error.
Do you know the best path to recover from this?
After some further investigation it looks like the PHP version requirements may have changed?

I've upgraded to PHP 8.2 but now none of the login accounts seem to work. No error is given, but the login does not proceed in the fields in the login form are cleared:
Your previous logins should work - nothing changed around user/passwords. Do you have access to the logs and does that help provide any additional information?

This is a lots of logs, and some from before your upgrade.
If you would like, you can reset your password via https://github.com/ChurchCRM/CRM/wiki/Reset-Password and see if you're still hitting issues.
The reset password fails with SMTP errors, but i'm quite sure my passwords are correct (I've tried multiple accounts which i used prior to the upgrade).
My suspicion is that the database was wiped/recreated.

@meichthys following the wiki, you should be able to reset the password (by setting the value in mysql directly instead of from the web-ui). The database shouldn't have been wiped but if it somehow did, prior to update the application does prompt the user to backup the db.
Thanks for this. I was able to reset the password via a query in phpMyAdmin, and when i try to log in the auth.log shows that authentication was successful, but i am still not re-directed to the dashboard (i cannot manually navigate there either). Here's the auth.log entries:

@meichthys if you figure out what caused this problem, please update the issue or feel free to add to the wiki so we can have a reference point in the future :) (others might be facing the same issue too)

@meichthys just as a heads up, we're trying to do a lot more cleanup and bug-fixes so you can expect more releases. If you come across an error, try and update and if it's still not resolved, file a GitHub issue :)
Also, if you'd like to contribute, we would definitely appreciate all the help we can get - whether it is documentation, helping with end-to-end test writing (copying a previous test and modifying the contents with new flows, which can be captured by having cypress-recorder installed and clicking through the app), or contributing code!
