YouTube 4K@60fps (2160p60) videos exhibit frequent micro stuttering #52

High resolution high frame rate content (2160p60) suffers from frequent micro stuttering. CPU usage is quite high while playing such content via YouTube2 app (tested with latest version 2.12.08). Stuttering typically happens during peaks in CPU usage (observed via top shell command).

Also UI navigation becomes noticeably more laggy and sluggish while playing such content. A clip which perfectly demonstrates the mentioned issues is The World in HDR in 4K. 2160p24 looks fine (like Iceland), of course being much more lenient with respect to frame timings.

Internet bandwith on BRAVIA is not an issue (measured with Vewd browser):

Also bandwidth to the YouTube servers looks fast and stable:

The problem is more noticable on this video. LG 4K DEMO HDR 2018 (60FPS) OLED PERPECT BLACK This is how it played on my TV over 100mbps LAN connection: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shyf2IuFypI

Firmware update to v6.6520 does not improve this behavior.

Since updating to YouTube 2.08.10, YouTube nerd stats attest a reduced Connection Speed of 25-30mbps max, preventing the app from picking the 2160p60 stream of The World in HDR in 4K for example, maxing out at 1440p60, see #75.

I did not put a comment here but after reporting the stuttering issue to Sony customer support the v2.07.02 version of YouTube app highly improved the playback performance in last august. Practically I did not observe any stutter after that. Now, I checked again and I can confirm that the above mentioned LG 4K DEMO material cannot be played with setting the resolution to 4K. It is even much worse than it was before v2.07.02 . I am going to open a new ticket at Sony support.
