Hello (LABAS:)))) ),

I am writing regarding this comment: https://forums.plex.tv/index.php/topic/83083-iptvbundle-plugin-that-plays-iptv-streams-from-a-m3u-playlist/page-13#entry653416

the problem with the m3u8 in the filename seems to be corrent (but I may be wrong)

I even picked up IPTV link from with repo:

# EXTINF:0 tvg-name="NDTV" tvg-logo="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/c5/NDTV_logo.svg/2000px-NDTV_logo.svg.png" group-title="News",NDTV 24x7 (http)

http://ndtv.live.cdn.bitgravity.com/ndtv/live/ndtv247live512

It works in VLC while on tv I get "Unable to connect to content server"

I am not able to create my own SAME stream but adding .m3u8 suffix for example.. Maybe someone out there would be able to? so we could have more testing done.

Thanks!

What TV are you using? Is it Samsung?

What about *.strm method described in readme file, did You try it and what were the results?

huglester commented 10 years ago

Hello @Cigaras!

Yes it is Samsung UE46F7000.

I will try to go throught troubleshooting steps when I get back home, so I can check on TV.

Basicly what you are offering is change the extension from playlist.m3u to playlist.strm ?

Thanks :)

Cigaras commented 10 years ago

No, strm method does not involve the plugin, and it can hold only one stream, with no additional data, only the url inside it, and then whole file loaded into Plex like a regular video file, that way You can determine if it's plugins fault or players, in this case Samsung TV.

There is an example: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9196319/NDTV.strm

Too bad I do not own a Samsung TV so my support is very limited in this matter.

Hello again @Cigaras ,

so far no luck. I am trying to figure out the theory of .m3u8 extention. I'm trying to find a sollution to make a http at port ie: 80, on some hosting, which would just forward traffic to other , no-m3u8 stream to see if it will work.

I tried dropbox example you posted (but I tried putting it here: http://pic.webas.lt/a9IXwosPUW.png ) or should I create separate playlist on localhost? Since with URL it does not work.

Btw in what city do you live in? Maybe we could beet and have some pizza with beer while playing with samsung :D

Will keep playing and see what can be done

You are doing it wrong, you had to download my example file, put it in some folder and load the folder into Plex like a Home Video, not using the plugin, like this: http://www.worldtvpc.com/mediaplayers/plex/plex-add_movies.php, but instead of Movies choose Home Videos category.

Also as I know, m3u8 is not a stream type, it's a text file, a UTF-8 encoded playlist, same as m3u, simple as that, there is already an issue regarding playlist in a playlist case however it is for Android, not for Samsung. And as I said on Plex forums, I do not know why the streams started to work for kwakers when he added .m3u8 at the end of each url, but I am pretty sure it has something to do with TV Box he is using.

So far I know that the stream in question (http://ndtv.live.cdn.bitgravity.com/ndtv/live/ndtv247live512) works for You in VLC, but do not know if it works on Plex Media Center, or in a *.strm file without using plugin.

P.S. I live in Vilnius, I could presume You are from Lithuania also, because You said labas at the first post of this issue?

huglester commented 10 years ago

Hello and thanks for being patient!

Just tried as you suggested, tried save to some directory this file, load as Home Videos. but no luck. I see that ICO in Home Videos from my TV, but when try to play it, it just keeps loading and loading... and nothing happens.

Also played for few ours yesterday with this m3u8 issue, but found, that some m3u8 links do not play on Samsung too. so this mystics probably should stop :) the URL i've tried: http://217.113.227.239/alekino/alekino.m3u8 Btw, could you try and play this stream via your device? Error I get: "Unable to connect to the content server".

So probably my only solution would be to try to run Serviio and try access the movies via DLNA? (If i remember correct from reading one of your forum posts).

P.S. Yeah, I'm from Lithuania, Vilnius here too as well!

EDIT: yes those streams from your dropbox and one I mentioned above are both working in VLC

Cigaras commented 10 years ago

Nice to meet a compatriot here, but lets keep this conversion in English for future readers sake.

I doubt I will find time this weekend to check your stream, so might take some time with more detais, but according to Your *.strm testing results looks like Plex client for Samsung is not capable of playing live streams.

Regarding alternatives, Serviio is very nice service, however has no solution for TV Guide. There are many Samsung dedicated apps using third party web pages as portals, the so called Widgets. There is a Lithuanian one available at openbox.info forum (two to be precise, maybe even more), also a huge list available at widgetlist.de (found on same forum). Unless You do not want to depend on third party services like I do, then you can try some alternatives I mentioned at Plex forum, lithuanian forum HDTV Lietuva and my personal blog (server dead at the moment, will be back up in the evening).

huglester commented 10 years ago

Sure. Was thinking the same way.

Yeah probably.. Strange that such powerful devices are not capable of playing it. This tv runs direct 1080, 3d movies without problems (via Plex app direct play). Lazy samsung bastards :)

I tried vintera.tv, uploaded paylist... but it takes up to 1 week to get channels updates. So this is not the solution, since IPTV provider said playlist is gonna change quite often.

Why you don't like widgets? What is so wrong about them? Noob here :)

I'll try reading your links to see what I can find suitable for me.

p.s. if you need some hosting space for your page, just ask. my email is github username gmail :)

huglester commented 10 years ago

Hello again,

One thing worked for me, is downloading OVP (it probably called widget right?) http://tsnakeman.net.ua/local.html ( I set up local samsung web server, which would sync my widgets)

I edited source with my remote playlist, zipped it - installed - and it started playing movies...

Probably there is no other way to play movies on samsung (apart tthose stp boxes, dlna, xbmc etc?)

Thanks

Cigaras commented 10 years ago

Pretty sure there are ways, You just need to keep looking if You want to, as I do not own a Samsung TV I can not help You there. And one more thing, devices surely are powerful enough, it's the software that lacks. The whole Plex thing is moving in strange direction, as I mentioned in readme file no streams play on their newest desktop app, so I kind of understand whu LG no longer includes Plex Media Link in new TVs...

Why I do not like widgets? Because for them to work remote server is required, Vintera.TV is a widget, You said it yourself, takes up to week to update the playlist, that is why I do not want to depend on a third man between my TV and broadcaster, or at least I want to be able to run needed service on my computer.
