@RyanMcG I thought you said you found a different solution and didnt need this anymore?
I don't, but someone else might. Not requiring the root of assets being served to be "/assets/" and allowing it to be configured might be helpful.
I think I'll close this one. I agree its a worthwhile feature, and that people will need it. I just want to wait until it has an actual user - someone who'll notice and care if it breaks.

Allow changing the assets root to be something other than
"/assets/"
.
