8 years ago Permit 16-001 is a Demonstration Permit for an event that takes place over a few days Permit 16-002 is a Walk Permit for a small walk, on sidewalks only Permit 16-004 is a Procession permit for vehicles Permit 16-011 is a Procession permit for a wedding procession Permit 16-012 is a Walk permit that has two separate legs that join up into one Permit 16-022 is a Road Race permit for the Boston Marathon Permit 16-034 is a Demonstration permit for one location for one time Permit 16-037 is a Parade Permit
We also write permits for Rallies, Candlelight Vigils, Ribbon Cuttings and Marches
I classify the permits as either Parade Permits or Rally Permits. Parade permits are things that move and Rally permits are stationary.
Sometimes there are restrictions put on the permit, like "On Public Sidewalks Only, No Amplified Sound, Must Not Disrupt Vehicular or Pedestrian Traffic".
All requests received by BTD are sent to Police HQ (Sgt. Beth Donovan) for review before I write the permit. If I get the request in the mail, I will scan it and email it to her or fax it to her or if it is emailed I will forward the email.
Sgt. Donovan will then either reply by email for give me a verbal okay.
