In that way, we can encode the data in a way that search engines like for the future website.

See schema.org's blog post - Vocabulary for describing Civic Services and check out all the existing gov-related schemas that they've already integrated.

Added example schema.org JSON-LD markup for public hearings.

This kills two birds with one stone:

SEO Search Engines will just suck this in, and eventually, start displaying it, similar to what they do for Music Events.
Machine-readable And even other bots beyond search engines, will love all this structured, linked data.
