Can you be a bit more specific about the author metadata? Are you asking for more types/categories?

Ideally, more metadata is better.

If you can pull off doing most of the Dublin Core elements (http://dublincore.org/documents/usageguide/elements.shtml), it'd be perfect (Publisher, Contributor, Creator, etc.)

But at this stage, just to be practical, the Staff Report and Consultant report is too high-level.

What if I want to find all the reports compiled by a certain engineering firm? Or by a specific principal investigator?

While you're thinking about this. Pagecount and wordcount would be nice and can also be used for schema.org markup (#17)
