Our guys had soldered some of the damaged wires for the cox box plug back in December. This was a temporary fix to get the speakers working. The rate meter hasn't been working. As of Sat 02/02/19, the speakers are no longer working (possibly from the plug being pulled too much) so unable to use Doreen until the wiring/plug has been changed.
Which bits of the wires are damaged? If it's connections, I can provide you with butt connectors (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHKib_w1l80) to fix the connection. If it's the pins on the end, we have some spares but these do need to be soldered and crimped.
It's the actual plug itself. The problem that we have is that the wiring has come away from within the actual plug itself. Butt connectors won't help I'm afraid.
OK, that's fine. The plugs are (from memory) Amphenol 44 connectors. The wires going into the plug are connected to pins, you can literally push them (from inside) right out of the plug. These connectors need to be crimped and soldered. I can provide you with a crimp tool. This photo shows what the pins look like: https://media.rs-online.com/t_large/F2468442-01.jpg
That's the one - thanks. We couldn't see how to push these from the inside but happy to do this. Are you free to come along on Saturday to overlook it? We are looking to carry out boat maintenance from 09:00-10:00 on Saturday and would be very useful to have you and/or Nick there.
They sell a tool for inserting and removing the pins but we don't have one and I usually just use a screwdriver and a bit of force. I can't guarantee Saturday right now; it might be worth discussing teaming up with @DarthSlater
