We may have circumstances where no power plug is available nearby and battery operation is reasonable, this may effect especially for faires, exibitions, project days, workshops.
So we will test how long GPTree is running with a battery pack. Calculating the runtime may also possible, but due to different influences we try it out with some tests.
Test setup
We have tested a
RaspberryPi 4 connected with
Anker PowerConf S330 USB conference speaker
RCWL-0516 presence sensor, see #5
Single values
Before real world testing we have measured power consumption with a 10 EUR USB power meter:
700 mA with GPTree running on max volume and with data up-/download
500 mA with no action (no talk form GPTree or human)
300 mA in case Anker PowerConf is disconnected (no real working mode, just to see consumption)
After 1 hour with more or less intensive testing the power meter shows
600 mAh so the single peak values above seems to be correct.
(Nearly) real world
With an Anker 335 Powerbank (20 000 mAh, 20 W) the Raspberry Pi was working 12 hours, but just running without any interaction and speaker output / internet connection, after the 12 h the 4 segment battery indicator shows still 1 segment. So a 20 Ah powerbank is sufficient for one working day (8 h) and perhaps we can go down in capacity.
