The extension fail to sync data and show message "Failed to sync bookmark data" on Firefox v75 However, force to push still work, but force pull didn't work.

I seem to be have the same issue in 76.01 on multiple machines... interestingly FFDev 77.0b1/3 works great... And everysync works on FF76 so I'm not sure what the change is... I also tried downgrading to 74.01, 73, 72, and none of them appear to work either, even with fresh profiles and syncmarx is the only thing I do. This doesn't make a slot of sense currently, I'll try to find out more... Also happens on multiple computers including a Mac and I know I did pull on it not too long ago...

EDIT: Randomly turned on an old computer it fails the same way in FF 69.0.1 ... so I'm not 100% what changed.... I guess I got to use the crappy Eversync for now... at least to get my bookmarks back. Why couldn't LastPass open sourced Xmarks

Thanks @ray1997 for the report, I haven't had much time to investigate yet but so far no luck...

@stealthgyro I've been seeing an increasing number of reports for this issue, most of them stating that something happened after a FF update. Strangely though no one has mentioned downgrading until now, and if that's not working it makes me suspect that the issue is specific to the data in one of the bookmarks. Are you able to do a force pull of a bookmark set that only has 1 or 2 bookmarks in it to see if the issue goes away?

stealthgyro commented 4 years ago

Sorry for never responding, you are correct there is likely something in my bookmarks, I even have a "Work" profile with several bookmarks works great. It's odd that it's only Firefox that has this issue... I'll see if I can narrow down what it is.

Well crap, the only thing I did, was empty my bookmark trash on Opera because it for some reason listed 4 times as many bookmarks and folders than any other browser, pushed that back up and Firefox is fine now... I have no idea if this is directly correlated.

im having this same issue with chromium edge and firefox @Cleod9. The sync works between profiles on edge, and it can pull and push from edge without issue.

Firefox on the other hand can push but cant pull or sync.

I have even tried it with a fresh profile with 1 bookmark and firefox still fails. Cant seem to figure out what the issue is

Thanks for the report @ClintOxx , sorry I haven't been able to get to the bottom of this after so long. I haven't been able to reproduce the issue yet, but the only clues I have at the moment are that it could be due to either non en-US locale settings or special characters contained within the bookmarks. Both of those things are not handled well by syncmarx and generally have been the cause of sync problems up to this point. If I could find what users have in common who experience this issue it would probably be much easier to diagnose

i made sure to eliminate any bookmarks with weird symbols, even tried it on a fresh copy with one bookmark, and still didn't work. Is there any browser data you need to help diagnose ?

Actually, it would be useful to know if syncmarx functioned properly for you with base case of just a small amount of bookmarks (of course be sure to back things up first if you decide to try this). That would significantly narrow down whether the issue is specific to the bookmark contents or something with the browser, since I may be investigating the wrong place for answers. It would also be helpful to know your operating system and Firefox versions.
