Needs to happen before April. Things to cover are:

Why.
Committing.
Basic Branches.
Merging Branches.
Pushing to GitHub (sharing your code).

Before April or before the end of april? Before april seems awfully short of time.

I think a large part of this could be covered awesomely by Learn git branching

For the why I like to use an example of writing a Master Thesis or something like this... you know this one paragraph you thought was crap but now you WANT IT BACK,
