"Parasite Immune" doesn't protect against Fungal parasites #20164

Build 6183

Step 1: Debug yourself the "Parasite Immune" mutation. Step 2: Spawn fungal monsters and start frolicking. Step 3: Get infected by fungal parasites anyways.

Zireael07 commented 7 years ago

Parasite Immune mutation applies only to the parasites that you can get through eating meat.

Barhandar commented 7 years ago

Then it's currently misnamed/misdescribed, and fungal parasites aren't described that they're external.

Night-Pryanik commented 7 years ago

But the effect is "Fungal infection", not "Fungal parasites".

DaliTimelord commented 7 years ago

Fungi are not usually considered parasites, especially for people. They're referred to as fungal infections, like bacterial and viral infections. Each type of infection requires a specialized medication to cure, and only that medicine. Antibiotics for bacteria, antiviral drugs for viruses, and antifungal drugs for fungal infections. Antibiotics do not work on viruses, and vice versa. Same principle applies to parasites, which are cured using antiparasitic medicine.

Edit: Changed to my nice voice.

Barhandar commented 7 years ago

Fungi are in a completely different animal kingdom compared to parasites.

Parasites aren't an animal kingdom.

CoroNaut commented 7 years ago

The base idea that DaliTimelord puts out is correct to me. Fungi are different than parasites which is the idea, meaning they require different medication to combat what effect you are experiencing.

Also, If we start making cure-all medication that just covers most or all of these infections or parasites, it will most likely break the balance for medication.

FTGJ, blood analysis cbm still shows "Fungal parasite" when fungal infection is present. I think we should change only description of cbm to "Fungal infection".
