Make IR vision behave like real IR vision #33728

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Currently IR vision items and mutations are some kind of heat camera thing that can see through walls. This doesn't make sense.

Describe the solution you'd like
IR vision should allow you to see infrared light. Seeing through walls should go. This would add an interesting layer to visibility as it would allow for things like IR lasers and IR flashlights to be visible to the player without being visible to monsters without IR vision. IR vision for monsters and robots would be a feature for them.

IR can see though smoke, but fires would really mess with it. Smoke grenades/smoke zombies should not interfere with line of sight.

BTW, IR vision interferes with any solid obstacle, including glass or most of the others transparent to normal vision substances.

It depends on the kind of IR vision. Near Infrared (700 nm to 1000 nm) is just slighly longer wavelength than red, and allows you to see vegetation easily. Thermographic infrared (mid infrared) 1000 nm (1 μm) to about 14000 nm (14 μm) allows you to see radiated heat from most warm-blooded and earthly temperature scales. I'm not sure what use far infrared could be used for, but as we move into microwaves, millimeter waves (between IR and Microwaves) are used in TSA scanners (seeing through clothes) and some non-lethal energy weapons and other microwaves have various other purposes (some microwaves might enable seeing through walls).

IR really should provide an indication of the shape of the heat source. Currently the game just shows a heat blob for every "warm blooded" creature (which, for some strange reason, includes small fish). At the very least, you should be able to see that a chick is much smaller than a zombie hulk, with zombie children and regular zombies in between. You should also be able to see the difference between a four legged creature, a humanoid, and a fused mess.

As it is, IR shares distance depending on daylight levels - see #45837.
