There are currently two annoyances with the 'Firearm Repair Kit'.
First is that despite including a Soldering Iron in its make, there are a number of recipes that do not allow you to use the Firearm Repair Kit, but allow you to use the Soldering Iron. An example of such a recipe is the 'rebreather mask' (see screenshot).
The other is that attempting to repair any item (gun or otherwise) with the Firearm Repair Kit, as one would with a Soldering Iron, requires 100 battery power - a massive amount compared to the amount of power a solitary Soldering Iron requires. And since the Firearm Repair Kit shares the same battery capacity of a Soldering Iron, this usually means you have to reload a fresh, fully-charged battery for every repair.
Both annoyances necessitate a player to make/find two soldering irons, as well as use a medium/heavy battery mod to increase the base battery value of the Firearm Repair Kit. Or using many, many disposable batteries at near-full charge.
Solution you would like.
Have the Firearm Repair Kit count/be offered as a tool option for ALL recipes that require a soldering iron.
Have repairing guns and/or non-gun items use the same battery charge values as a Soldering Iron.
Describe alternatives you have considered.
Increasing the default battery of the Firearm Repair Kit to accept a medium battery, to allow at least 5-6 uses of repairs before needing to reload the battery.
