The Read screen is bonked #75801

Describe the bug

There are 2 items for each saved book. It requires strength to read one, as if they are physical copies. It requires light to read, when the screen of the reading device can actually light up.

Attach save file

NA

Steps to reproduce

Save books to a device. Move physical books away from reach. Invoke read screen. Ugh.

Expected behavior

Show only 1 item per book. Strength should not be an issue. Automatically light up the screen when there is enough battery power.

Additional context

Do you really need to consolidate the read screen?

This happens to me because I'm carrying a backup as well as the actual device that stores the books. It probably shouldn't happen, though. Also not being able to read with a light is how e-books behave even when you read them from the device menu, which is also silly.

But for my money, yes we absolutely should consolidate the reading screen. I hate having to go through the whole dance of activating my phone every time I want to resume reading.

Fine and all, but there are instances where it matters to decide whether to read a physical book or an electronic copy. Physical copies are nice at the beginning when PC is not yet swimming in batteries and have no smartphone or tablet. Physical books need only light, electronic copies need power.

As of now, I believe there is no distinction which book is physical and which is electronic.
