That's just a glorified todo list.
That's just a glorified todo list.
I mean....yeah, it's a roleplay mechanic that isn't necessary for gameplay, much like the Diary. But like the diary I think it's fun to give your character this level of depth that makes them more than just a drivers seat for the player
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I really like the roleplay opportunity that player diaries added and it had me thinking "What if you could create your own missions? That'd add a lot to story potential." And here I am a week after brainstorming it. I brought my ideas up to the devcord and people liked it, which tells me this is a change people would love which is enough for me to attempt it.
Solution you would like.
I envisioned my feature to be accessible through the
M
ission menu, where you can select a “create personal mission” option to open a new menu where you can select a goal, a value of the goal if necessary, a name for the personal mission, a custom description, and an optional deadline. After selecting everything and accepting the mission, it's given to your character. For simplicity's sake, these missions can't involve NPCs in the same way story missions do. The set goals exclusively relate to the player. Some examples you can choose are:
(C)
at the start of the name or even a simple colour change in text would work.An example of a custom mission:
Bag a moose before winter
I need a good source of meat to last before the snow comes in.
Kill moose: 1
Time remaining: 6 weeks 4 days
Describe alternatives you have considered.
A different keybind? Accessible through a different menu like the diary or the @ menu? I'm open to lots of suggestions so please voice your thoughts.

I can already see players making missions titled
