In the meeting we discussed several points that need to be done in order to make the data correct and the QBO indices comparable. I noted the folllowing steps:

[x] Use same pressure level for all the indices (30 hPa)
[x] Normalize all the indices
[x] Look at the reference QBO found here
[x] Indicate how many datapoints are taken into account for the derivations of the respective QBO indices

After these steps have been done:

Changed the refernce QBO to the one found here

There was a big error in deriving the QBO from the +/- 5 degree of the equator data. The latitude step was 120 instead of 7. checking how many datapoints are taken into account for the derivation has revealed this mistake.

@pierretoussing great work so far. Could you write an email to Tobias (add me in CC) and ask him to validate the steps you implemented? Try to help him with pointing out relevant jupyter notebooks and providing some context.
