I just uploaded a file for the provincial decomposition that assigns the title Sichuan to Chongqing in 2020 to account for the separation of the two in 1997. The file is "ChSi1990_region_df_key_loc_china_county2province_2020.csv" and is in /Dropbox/PIRE/team/kai_feng/clean_data/ . The column that has the conversion is "Prov_En_1990". I think we also talked about doing the same for Hainan and Guangdong but it looks like that separation occurred in 1988 so it is already accounted for in the 1990 census.

[Note that we moved away from the ecological region map as it was on the provincial level as well as because recent literature has pointed out the shifting of ecological trends over time]
