Welcome to ClojureBridge @hannahhenderson ! I think you've already connected to the previous SF chapter organizer, @travis . If not, it's a good idea to ping him. For a reference, https://github.com/ClojureBridge/Workshops/issues/40 is the issue of the last SF workshop.
Soon, a board (or ex-board) member will be assigned as a mentor. Meanwhile, you may ask questions at ClojureBridge Workshops mailing list, https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/clojurebridge-workshops .
Hello @yokolet, thank you for getting back to me! Yes, @travis and I have already connected, and he shared quite a bit of information with me.
I'm looking forward to participating in the ClojureBridge experience! I've spoken with @annguy3n, and we'd like to set up invitations for the next several SF ClojureBridge events so that we don't lose momentum. Is there a rule of thumb for listing multiple events? As it stands we'd like to repeat the process on:
An and I have a list of coworkers here at CircleCI that are interested in helping to support this event. Most notably, that means we'll have an available venue for the next several meet ups.
We very much plan to keep this a larger community event and to include instructors and sponsors from other companies.
It's exciting to see recurring workshops in San Francisco!
Hi @yokolet! I noticed that this event is not posted on the ClojureBridge website. Do you need any additional information to get it live? Thank you.
Hello, Hannah. Franka (@vsmart) and I will act as mentors for you as you organize this workshop. Franka has been involved with multiple ClojureBridge workshops in Berlin, and is currently leading the effort to put on another (a fifth?) Berlin workshop later this year. I led the organization of a San Francisco workshop in 2014 (I've since moved to Berlin).
I noticed that this event is not posted on the ClojureBridge website. Do you need any additional information to get it live?
I'll contact Yoko about this. She is the only board member who knows her way around the Rails app that currently powers clojurebridge.org. Within the next few months we'll switch to a Jekyll-based site to allow details of upcoming workshops to be published more easily.
Please contact Franka and me if you would like guidance or a second opinion on anything as you make plans for September. You can of course ask questions here, but you're also welcome to email us directly (david@clojurebridge.org and franka@clojurebridge.org).
@hannahhenderson Sorry for the delay! Please check http://www.clojurebridge.org/events/2017-09-15-san-francisco . If there's anything you want to change, let me know.
How was the event, @hannahhenderson? I'd love to read a synopsis here or on the mailing list.
Hi @davidchambers! It went well. A couple of the volunteers met up post-event for a retrospective and we're putting a couple of changes in place for events going forward.
Notably, a couple of us have taken on updating some of the curricula so that it's a little more REPL-driven.
We're planning to communicate in the Clojurians #clojurebridge-sf channel, though I wouldn't expect too much chatter for another month or so :)

This sounds good to me. :tada:
ClojureBridge Intro to Programming Workshop
Location
Locale: San Francisco
Venue: CircleCI 201 Spear Street 12th Floor San Francisco, CA 94105
Description
This workshop is for women interested in learning to program with Clojure, an expressive, general-purpose programming language.
People who identify as men are welcome to come and learn so long as they are guests of an attendee who does not identify as a man. ClojureBridge is emphatically queer and trans* friendly. This is an introductory workshop. The focus is on those new to programming. Complete beginners are welcome! (If you have experience programming in another language and would like to learn Clojure, you may find the pace of the workshop slow.)
This workshop introduces data structures and functions, and provides opportunities to use them to create programs. We'll meet up on Friday to install all of the software you need, then spend Saturday learning and writing code.
Additional Info
Schedule
The InstallFest on Friday is a time to get some help setting up a working Clojure development environment. If you'd prefer to set up your environment on your own you can skip that and work through the setup documentation on your own.
You do not need to be at the whole InstallFest - drop in for an hour any time before 6 PM and 9 PM to get set up!
Please do show up on time on Saturday.
