Upload file to library on new publish get stuck

The session in Jackrabbit get stuck like it is waiting for a transaction to close or whatever. No error get raised but there is sometime this problem. Not sure on how to reproduce, but happens frequently, but after a fresh restart it goes well so you need to do more than one publish per run Do an extensive test on this with maximum trace level to find out the problem

I managed to reproduce this but I don't know if my scenario is the same as Luca's. The scenario is as follows:

select a file from local file system
wait until the session expires
press save button

Result:

nothing happens

Error: POST http://localhost:8080/api/application/8028/1416280/file 403 (Forbidden)

@xeviscc - when there is no user session, all actions made in the ui should redirect the user to login screen @gioppoluca - if this is not the situation in which you reproduced the bug, please let me know

I will check 403 errors on the callbacks, but to be clear a 403 is a not authorised, but the user is authenticated. Check https://httpstatuses.com/403. As you state in the previous post it is a "Forbidden" not an "Unauthorized".

For Unauthorized should be 401. Check https://httpstatuses.com/401.

@cpopsa that is not the case the session problem is on jackrabbit session, there we get stuck.

I didn't managed to reproduce this, but when I tried to upload multiple files in the Upload needed files screen, exceptions like the one below are thrown. Maybe those exceptions are related to the issue. @guidospadotto-profesia any ideea about why this is thrown?

I think the latter is a mix of: a) Asynchronous multiple invocations of the upload of several files from the browser b) Activiti engine trying to persist "heavy" process variables (i.e. the files) c) Spring transactional Vodoo magic that stumbles in between d) a different problem than the one described in this issue.

I didn't managed to reproduce this, but when I tried to upload multiple files in the Upload needed files screen, exceptions like the one below are thrown. @guidospadotto-profesia Please fix the Activity related error to be able to continue the investigation. As the reproductible steps are not available it is very hard to get to the root cause of the issue.

You need to make sure you don't have 2 transactions modifying the same row at the same time or modifying activi metadata at the same time. You need some kind of synchronization mechanism. The entity with problems is HistoricVariableInstanceEntity .

Transaction management is handled internally by Activiti. The problem seems to happen when the previous value of a variable is being saved in the "Historic Values" DB. Yes, I tried and I was not able to reproduce the error. I created some new services and I was able to add items to the library without issues.

We need to repreat the publish 3 or four times using the same tosca service name but different service name: this means we have different catalogue elements that point to the same Jackrabbit folder

Use same tosca file and image for service but change the name of files do the publishing and you should get stuck after you try to add a file to the library and before the tosca file

I tried to reproduce by following the last comments from gioppoluca:

Initial files: c1.png as service image, t1.zip as TOSCA archive

Set Global Properties screen
- fill Service Name = t1, Service TOSCA Name = tosca_test, and all other required fields
- I selected file c1.png as Service Image and hit Save
- press Next
Upload needed files screen
- press ADD ITEM IN LIBRARY and select c1.png
- click Save
- click Next
Upload TOSCA archive screen
- press ADD TOSCA ARCHIVE and select t1.zip
- click Save
- click Finish

I repeated the steps above for 12 times without restarting my server, with the following changes: For each step i, i = 2..13

Change Service Name to ti (Service TOSCA Name stays the same)
Change Service image file name to ci.png
Change TOSCA archive file name to ti.zip

Results: Every publish worked ok, nothing gets stuck. The files were uploaded to the same directory in Jackrabbit http://lab1.cloudopting.org:8083/repository/default/tea/tosca_test/template/
