This task is continuation to the payment analysis work done on UPI and Pakistan payment departments report.

We would do the payment system analysis between two countries and find the gap.

Most of the banks in Pakistan have their own mobile apps and they integrate some of the online businesses in Pakistan. Online merchants and business in Pakistan keep emerging and going out of business at fast pace. However, banking mobile apps don't integrate with new businesses at very fast pace.

Almost, all of the banks mobile apps have options pay online utility or government bills. Some even offer purchasing shares online or mutual funds.

I would discuss few payment systems, apps, wallets that I have discovered during my search. They are often dubbed as digital payment systems. Some of them are provided by telecoms and are known as telecom based payment services.

Facts

Telecom based payment system challenges

Easypaisa is a Telenor-specific solution, and so if you don’t have a Telenor SIM you will not be able to use the service unless you go to an Easypaisa retail outlet. This has implications for online retailers. They now have to devise deals and work with a wide number of payment providers in order to capture the totality of the market. For example, their checkout systems will have to offer Telenor, Mobilink, Ufone, Warid, Zong, UBL Omni and many other modes of payments. This makes things very complicated for people who want to start their own online business. There is a desperate need for an independent platform for online payments.

The telecom-based services are not designed to deliver international transactions and this means that if a local online business depends on them they can only target the local market.

Good job. Let's look at India and try to finish by Friday.

Q: For example, their checkout systems will have to offer Telenor, Mobilink, Ufone, Warid, Zong, UBL Omni and many other modes of payments. This makes things very complicated for people who want to start their own online business. There is a desperate need for an independent platform for online payments. Is there a consolidator for these solutions?

Q: Is Andriod Pay or Apple Pay available in Pakistan?

sojharo commented 5 years ago

Google Pay doesn't appear on PlayStore in Pakistan. I tried installing it on my android. Apple Pay is also not available in Pakistan. I tried installing it as well.

India has legal framework that empowers the central bank (RBI) to regulate and supervise payment systems.

EBS or E-Billing Solutions is the Indian merchant account provider and one of the most secured online service provider in the world. Key features are International Payment / Credit card Support: EBS Payment gateway accepts Visa, Master Card, American Express, JCB & Diners cards issued around the world and also multi-currency support.

Paypal gateway payment system

PayPal is a Global payment platform available in 200+ countries across the world. In India, merchants primarily use PayPal to receive funds from foreign customers only as due to banking regulations an Indian company cannot accept Indian credit cards via Paypal.

PayPal can be used by an Indian merchant only for receiving international payments only. PayPal does not support or recognize Indian currency, therefore you need to choose an international currency as the base currency. What it means is that if somebody pays you in say Australian dollar through PayPal on your eCommerce store, PayPal will first convert that to US$ (with currency conversion charges). Therefore when you withdraw money from PayPal you will again pay currency conversion charges for conversion to Indian Rupee at your bank in India.

FonePaisa Payment Gateway

Note Bigger and smaller there were many more other payment gateways in India that I found online. I have added these that I found important.

MOBILE BANKING AND MOBILE WALLETS

1) Airtel Money:

With the Airtel Money app, users can easily recharge prepaid accounts or pay postpaid bills. You can also shop online if your digital wallet has cash loaded in it. It’s also extremely safe as every transaction or payment you make requires a secret 4-digit mPin.

2) Citi MasterPass:

Citi MasterPass, a free digital wallet, helps make checking out while online shopping a speedier process. Once you’ve stored all your payment and shipping details in your Citi Wallet, simply click on the MasterPass button and it will take care of the rest.

Citrus Pay, one of the top e-wallets in India, it offers a Citrus wallet for customers as well as payment solutions to businesses. With a strong base of 800 million customers, it has definitely earned its spot as one of the best mobile wallets in India.
