For historical purposes, here's the the icon for Macintosh Common Lisp as of MCL 2.0:
And here's the cover to the Coral Common Lisp manual:
So I tried to come up with a SVG logo based on a coral reef dweller in Inkscape. I guess I need more practice and/or a simpler motive. ;-)
I suppose CCL could stand for Clownfish Common Lisp...
We might want to hire Michał Herda (@phoe) to do a logo, he exhibited quite a bunch of excellent logos for CL implementations based on the Lisp lizard.
Aw, come on, man, the ELS hasn't even finished yet. (Also, you got the photos flipped horizontally.)
If you like what I've created, then I might be up for the job. Tell me more about the requirements.

Uploading the CCL logo from the series:

I've worked on a prototype of the icon that I think could be good. It is designed to look like the tree that is naturally a coral reef. It spells out "CCL", and of course, it could represent an AST.
Please let me know if you like this concept, I can try producing other variants of it
The current CCL app icon is:
The CCL logo from @phoe is an evolution of that icon. It keeps the same general shape and colors. It removes the letters CCL from the icon, which should be considered a good thing, IMO.
I would agree that @phoe's logo for ccl would be an improvement.
There is no doubt that @phoe has produced an absolutely beautiful logo. The one thing that concerns me though is that it looks far too similar to all the other Lisp icons. I think there is a beauty in a unique, recognizable icon for a project, and for this reason I don't think we should use it.
The CCL Company Icon may be a good starting place, but it does not have a lot of elements. The only elements are the letters, and what looks to be a parenthesis. Not sure how one could make a different, and meaningful icon to represent CCL given those things. I'll think about it and report back if I can come up with anything.

@jmercouris That's a valid point.
As far as I see, my logo attempts to unify CCL with other implementations, and your logo attempts to set CCL apart from them. These two points of view are conflicting but nonetheless valid at the same time.
A strong visual identity for the Clozure CL project would be very valuable.
This could include a logo, a project style implemented in CSS, and so forth.
I can hardly expect someone to contribute something like this for free, but I'm making the issue as a reminder anyway.
