I am having the EXACT same problem, and its really frustrating. This really isnt a hard process, so not sure what Im doing wrong. I have watched and read every single tutorial over and over and no matter what I get a BLACK SCREEN....If I boot up RetroArch from the SNES I can load roms manually and they play perfectly. However if you click on the image of the game from the main menu you only get a black screen..So obviously retroarch is not automatically detecting the proper emulator...Only SNES roms work.
Heres the funny part. Last night I wiped my Snes clean once again. I dumped the kernel. Added the custom. This time added only SNES games nothing else. Synced 141 SNES games. Turned it on. Its fine. Played all selected games. Something I failed to mention. I was adding games from other systems just fine til Saturday afternoon. I just wanted to add 5 new games that was SMS and NES games. I did the usual. Turned it on then WTF. Something must be wrong with the Retroarch program
Did you add retroarch alone. Try adding the other mods for different systems along with the retroarch. There should have been another folder that came with the download. Add that and try your games

Yea SNES games work just fine. I have all the mods installed. RetroArch works just fine on the classic...If I open RetroArch on SNES Classic (like you would say on a PC), I can load and play all the games I have installed..So because the games play that means the mods are installed. The problem only occurs when you try and click on the picture of the game and have the game boot from the main menu...So the problem is in Hakachi and the Command line. Hakachi is apparently supposed to fill in the command line appropriately but it obviously doesnt.....Ive typed " --retroarch" at the end of the command line, Ive tried different roms. It doesnt matter...so I can load the games manually, but I cant boot into a game from SNES Classics main menu the way everyone shows in their youtube videos... I did read an article that stated the black screen can be related to retroarch not installing properly, which my laptop has had issues with some usb devices connecting , so Imma try another computer when I have time and/or just make my own youtube video to physically show ppl and get feedback hopefully....In the meantime any SNES game I install plays great.
Problem with mine is that I can set all the games for all systems the Snes will turn on and show the games. When the retroarch and other mods is added the system is instantly black. For now only Snes games is added. I have the Euro Snes as well. Its fully loaded with games. That is not going near a computer til I solve this problem
Ok fellas. I figured it out..... Somewhat. Its not our retroarch. Its mainly a conflict of mods thats causing the Black screens. I was able to upload a Genesis game. Try loading the latest Hackchi2 and this linkhttps://github.com/KMFDManic/NESC-SNESC-Modifications/releases/tag/v.2.5-2018-3-10-18-V2 seemed to help alot. You still have to add a few mods. Just trying to figure which mod causes the conflict. Im working crazy on this. So bare with me.
The problem is to update from a previous 2.21f version to v2.30, in both NES-SNES Mini, files read it has changed and now the ROMs are automatically renamed when adding them with a short name and without characters with symbols.
Example, same file added:
-Old Hakchi2 2.21f: /bin/nes /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-I-VSOEY/Aliens_-_Alien2(Japan)(Proto)[b].fds.7z
-New Hakchi2 2.30: /bin/clover-kachikachi-wr /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-D-VDBZT/Aliens.fds.7z --guest-overscan-dimensions 0,0,9,3 --initial-fadein-durations 10,2 --volume 75 --enable-armet --fds-auto-disk-side-switch-on-keypress
If we add the ROMs from scratch with the Hackchi2 v2.30 together with the Retroarch of the 1.1C cores pack everything will be fine
But if we have all the structure created and only seek to update we will get black screens, for this it is best not to use Pack 1.1.C and if you use Retroarch v1.7.1 of the "KMFDManic NESC/SNESC Experimental Core/Bios/HMOD Set" pack and recombine the emulator route in any case it will go perfect and even better than with the previous pack.
Got same problem. Have made little tool using old-fashioned C++ to recover pathes. Just changes invalid Exec value of [Desktop Entry] key of the .desktop file to the proper value according to existing 7z file for each subdirectory. Launch from games_snes directory. Here is the tool ReExPath.zip. MD5 is 1b47852cb7366d02ba0652ac22966bab. My 200+ games were recovered just for a moment. Have fun and don't forget to back up games_snes directory before use!
im so damn lost. Got my nes mini loaded with 700 plus games. tried to load some snes games and nothing but black. watched idk how many vids ....nothing. i cant even get retroarch to work on mini. could really use help fellas. oh and im a novice at best w this stuff guys
I dumped the kernel and flashed the custom kernel added 75 games (genesis, nes, sms, gba) and synced it all. Games appear doesnt work. Thats why we use the retro arch and the mods. So I added retroarch and the added mods. I turn it on. All I get is a black screen. I uninstalled everything and reflashed the original kernal back to factory settings. Started over. I got the same thing. What in the hell is going on??? Get back to me appreciate it
