No worries, your suggestions have actually been pretty interesting for me to look into.
I was aware of sbase and ubase, but I'll look more into them as a replacement for the utils we are missing. ubase in particular provides quite a few utilities which are not easily ported from *BSD.
Feel free to suggest anything else as it comes up :)
First of all, I am sorry if it bother you that I make so many useless suggestions. I found Sbase, a tiny POSIX implementation of the standard coreutils made by suckless.org, it does not suck and it is pretty lightweight, I even placed them at /usr/bin/local on my VoidLinux machine and I am proud to say that I haven't had issues, only "caveats" are that they don't have all the fancy bloat/features of the modern GNU coreutils, they are even closer to Research Unix and POSIX than even OpenBSD's are. I really recommend them. SRCs here: https://core.suckless.org/sbase/ - repo: https://git.suckless.org/sbase/ https://core.suckless.org/ubase/ - repo: https://git.suckless.org/ubase/
Tell me what you think of them. :)
