Concepts im throwing around include: The former capital of Caelondia is said to be the greatest trove of riches and magic, the problem is almost no one who goes there come back. And those who do return come back... changed.
I love that concept!
I'm planning on setting the game in the Ash wastes for the most part. I'll try to integrate the wider setting by having other nations send emmisaries and military forces within the wastes, which is probably a good background for a character.
A couple of factions for the ash wastes: The heirs of Caelondia: The remnants and descendants of the Caelondian military, this faction believes they are the rightful rulers of the wastes. Led by General Theodoric, the son of a major caelondian military leader. Revelry: Consisting of loosely organized settlements and bandit groups, Revelry takes advantage of the anarchy of the ash wastes, fighting off the other factions to keep it unsettled and untouched. The Reclaimers: A group of wizards, artificers, and mercenaries who hunt for lost magical wonders hidden throughout the wastes, viewing these wonders with a religious awe. (think the adeptus mechanicus) The Ash Pact: The only formally recognized faction within the wastes, The Ash Pact is a compound between multiple settlements providing mutual protection and trade. Likely the only thing resembling order within the wastes.
Add stuff like settlements, factions vying for power, landmarks, etc. I also want to create some warlock patrons since I know nick is going to play one.
