Bugs, nitpicks, and things I hope for in the future (and the official Babyfat 1.18.2 review)

Babyfat issues:

• Animations are bugged (pivots for tail base and pectoral fins are not aligned properly, tail fins are moving in opposite directions, causing them to intersect)
• Ranchus don’t keep their texture (colour and/or tail shape) when bucketed (tested in creative and survival, when placed down they default to the feral color and any of the three tail lengths)

Nitpicks:

• Breeding (this has already been talked about by multiple people so I won’t harp on about it)
• Water Lettuce colour being biome dependent. I have already mentioned this before but in select biomes it looks like it is rotting, sickly, dead or dry, which doesn’t look good, as opposed to the water lettuce in previous versions of the mod. This also makes it inconsistent with other aquatic plants like lilypads, and making it look extremely different to water lettuce irl, which is rather iconic in ponds because of its bright green colouration that makes it stand out amongst other pond plants.

Things I like:

• Ranchu being spawned from the egg being a random colour as opposed to being only the feral variants. This change I do quite like because it makes it rather easy to get a random ranchu variant in creative.

Things I think would be nice to see in the future:

• The Other planned Babyfat plant. Elodea was planned originally to be an underwater alternative to Water Lettuce, so it could be used in place of Water Lettuce. Basically just being another thing that could be used to trigger ranchu breeding.
• Ranchu Soccer. This one is self-explanatory.
• Vaky’s cool new updated Ranchu item texture he made because the old one is phallic looking (something he realized not me)
• Ability to bone meal Water Lettuce and any future Babyfat Plants.

The Official Babyfat review: Babyfat is a mod that means a lot to me and some others, but especially to me since it was a mod that was originally made as a birthday gift for me (thank you Coda), this is the same with bettas. The whole schtick with these two mods is just the fact they are small compact mods that add some small fish with variants that people could collect via breeding (Babyfat) or searching them out (Bettas), along with decorative things like plants and the like. I do hope to see some of the original unused ideas for these two mods incorporated into future.

Overall kind of a rocky introduction, with one of the things that made Babyfat unique being missing due to an oversight (causing such a negative reaction from true Babyfat Patriots:™:) along with bugs that I am quite surprised made it into the new releases, but there are the new features that I do quite like, along with the potential for new features that couldn’t be added previously due to a single person having to constantly port and work on multiple mods and generally leaving Babyfat on the back burner.

Hey Tazz! Lots of good feedback here that we will be working on but I will mention one thing in particular, the water lettuce texture, we felt it was best to go with the vanilla grass mechanics because of how funky the original texture looked in certain biomes, here is an image to demonstrate, we'll look into improving how it looks in certain biomes
