We need the movie file to know the cause of crash.
Would you mind uploading the mkv file to afp://211.109.11.22 ?

ok i found out that movist only crashes on certain files if i open them
directly from my network hd (nfs or
samba).
movist can play the same files well after copying them to my macbook.
i will upload such a file in the next hours.

I agree this is a big problem, and the number-one reason i'm not using Movist
as my
primary player. Most of my MKVs are TV shows (which, going by the numbers
alone, make
up the bulk of my videos), so it's a rather serious issue.

I've just done a quick test on several MKVs and my results are below (and also
in the
attached spread-sheet). Note that only 3 in 8 MKVs play — and it would be
considerably less than that, obviously, if i hadn't limited the testing to one
randomly chosen file from each TV show. (I figured it would have been pointless
to
test several episodes from the same series since they should all be encoded the
same.)

I can also upload some of these if requested.

Oops, i forgot to mention a few things:

1. Movist version: 0.6.1

2. OS version: Mac OS X 10.5.7 (Intel)

3. hardware: aluminium iMac (2008); 2.4 GHz CPU; 4 Go RAM; ATI Radeon HD 2600

4. These files are all stored locally (some on a FireWire drive, some on an
internal). I have not tried loading a video from across the network.

5. Problem is usually repeatable — i can re-open the same file over and over
and it
will crash every single time.

6. VLC on Mac/Windows, and Media Player Classic + ffmpeg on Windows, do NOT
have this
problem.

Now that 0.6.2 is out i've re-tested the above files, and although there seems
to be
a significant delay when first loading the video (this may be my own
configuration,
though, i'll have to do some more testing), i'm happy to say that EVERY ONE of
the
above files is now working correctly! Thanks!
