Submit the 2015 Strategic Plan to Code for America #16

At the Brigade pre-Summit in September 2014, we talked through the new, simplified support structure that we’ll be rolling out in 2015. We wanted to recap what this structure is, ID where your Brigade currently falls in it, and let you know any next steps your leadership team needs to take for your Brigade to be at a different level of support for 2015.

Action items are below in bold.

The 4Ps: New Support Structure beginning January 1, 2015 Code for America Brigades organize through the 4Ps: people, plans, partnerships, and participation. In 2015, a group can join the Brigade network as a Brigade Network Member or an Official Brigade Chapter.

Next Steps for Your Brigade

We will be allocating resources to Brigades based on their level beginning January 1, 2015.

  1. If your Brigade would like to stay on as an Official Brigade Chapter and have access to resources like financial support from Code for America, please submit your Brigade's 2015 strategic plan and information about your municipal and community partners by December 31, 2014.
    • Here is a sample strategic plan that you can copy and customize with your Brigade’s 2015 goals and objectives.
    • Here is a short Official Brigade Chapter form to fill out once your Brigade has the 4Ps in place so we know you want to stay an Official Chapter.
  2. If your Brigade would like to continue on as a Network Member instead, that is great, too!
    • Here is a short Brigade Network Member form to fill out so we know you want to become a Network Member.

We’re hosting office hours through the remainder of 2014 if you’d like to talk through any of this information in more detail. You can sign up for these 30 minute time slots using this Google Calendar Appointment Link. If you have trouble signing up, just email me and we can set a date/time.

EMAIL FROM HANNAH ON 12/15/14 Hi Garrett and Andrew,

I wanted to check in on this to see if y'all had any questions as you prep for 2015? The Communities Team will be mostly offline beginning next Monday, December 22, 2014 through January 2, 2015 so I wanted to make sure we got everything answered before we go on break.

We've also been getting a few questions about what will happen if you need to wait until the new year to solidify your plans so I wanted to clarify that if you submit your plans after the December 31, 2014–that's okay! We’ll be pro-rating the $5,500 budget for groups that become Official Chapters after that day. (For example, if your group joins in April, you’d have access to $4,125 (¾ of the annual budget)).
