A Ladder block which is three or four blocks tall, but is a single block in an exaggerated form of how a fence extends over a block tall, and of course climbable as a ladder.
Expansion Ideas which occured to me as I was writing the first request.
If you can shift click on it with an open hand to pick it up it becomes an amazing tool for exploration. Enabling explorers to get up steep cliffs without carving paths, simply by pulling the ladder up behind them.
If you can orient it against other sides then down it can be used to make short bridges.
If zombies can spawn with them and drop them (into being placed) on death (or I suppose at any other time, but I have no idea how hard AI is to mess with), they make fortification walls and moats more important.
