JS101 Session 07 February - JS Assessment #43

We started this session with looking at some ES6 features on http://learnharmony.org

Then we did some coding and not only pair but group programming! @TimHandy set up a coding environment on Gomix, so we could all work on one of the tasks in js-assessment together. We worked on writing a counter function that is meant to count after a certain interval. We did not get this quite right, and it was interesting seeing the solution wich involved a recursive function using setTimeout.

Next session:

If you manage update board with personal goals!

I can give a brief explanation of writing functions, and also of using basic built in functions (and how they may or may not Return something) for our new friends. I wish when I started someone explained that to me. I'll try to think up some good clear examples and a diagram or two.

  • We should talk about some programming concept, so that people starting out also benefit. And always good for everybody going over it again. Suggestions?
  • Possibly discuss desired features of the app Two things to do routinely: 1. At the beginning do a little 'standup' where everybody briefly talks about whether they are on track with their goals, what they have learned, what they found difficult etc. 2.This I forgot last time: We wanted to update the handbook at the end of each session. We should take turns with this. Each time towards the end somebody will update it with something that was relevant that session (if there is anything ;))

If you manage update board with personal goals!
