Made some updates to the reducer tests (put them in the right folder)
Attempted to make fixes for Code Climate by creating a test_prep file in the utils.

I'd like feedback on these changes (namely the code climate related ones), because I'll likely make similar changes to address the other issues.

Can I close this PR because this code is bad and it should feel bad? (And is already far improved upon by @ASAAR 's changes)
