We are going to be running a course with Westminster city council and Capgemini for 'Get Online' week in October/
Objective:
Run 1 short 1-hour session on basic cybersecurity with the participants smartphones.
Details:
Date: Monday the 14th October
Times: 10.30 - 11.30. (This would mean the volunteers would need to be available from 10 -12.)
Venue: Their offices on Victoria street, they will provide refreshments
Audience: We are looking to reach out to Unfold and running this as a women's only group (this is still to be confirmed)
Volunteers: 1 lead volunteer, 2 trainee supports (These do not necessarily need to be women)
Course material: 'Bespoke' session on Cyber security
Outcomes:
Outcome 1: Increased Awareness and Understanding
Participants will gain a foundational understanding of cyber security risks and threats relevant to smartphone usage. They will learn about common tactics used by cybercriminals, such as phishing and malware, and how to identify and avoid them. By the end of the session, participants will be more aware of the importance of safeguarding their personal information and devices, empowering them to make safer choices online.
Outcome 2: Practical Skills Application
Participants will acquire practical skills to enhance the security of their smartphones. They will learn how to implement basic security measures, such as setting up strong passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, and installing antivirus software. Through hands-on activities and guided demonstrations, participants will develop the confidence and ability to apply these security measures effectively, thereby reducing their vulnerability to cyber attacks.
