Recruit volunteers for ITP pair programming [REMOTE SYNC]

Recruit industry professionals to do 1-hour remote pair programming sessions with trainees.

Required background of volunteers

• 1+ year of professional JavaScript experience, or 5+ years of professional experience coding.
• Able to dedicate blocks of 1 hour while trainees are active.
• This is done remotely.
• Can be done by new volunteers.
• There is no minimum commitment - a one-off session is fine.
• The volunteer must have been on-boarded and signed the code of conduct.

Numbers

We need 1 hour per week per trainee.

We currently have 115 trainees - let's budget for 60% (we have some attrition, and realistically some folks won't do one of these sessions every week), so we're aiming for 70 hours per week.

Let's target 25 volunteers.

What we need the volunteers to do to sign up

• Read the pair programming guide
• Create an office hours schedule using something like https://calendly.com/
• Add a link to their office hours link to the Canvas in the ITP #cyf-pair-programming

What we need the volunteers to keep doing

• Adding availability to their schedule.
• Attend meetings when booked with trainees.
• Within a meeting, follow the guidance in the pair programming guide.

What does success look like?

We have 25 volunteers with office hours listed in the canvas.

Trainees are successfully booking and attending calls.

No trainee has a complaint that they want to book a pairing session and cannot.
