Wordpress; broken image icons appearing in Upload Images area #299

My wordpress site is now showing a bunch of broken images in a slider I added. This doesn't seem to affect the slider, and I can't delete them (it's as if it's drawing too many items, appears in IE9, Firefox 13, etc).

Wordpress 3.4.1 Nivo: 1.6 (I realise an update is available but its transitions appear buggy, so I rolled back).

I think that certain special characters break this plugin. I was having the same issue but taking out all special characters in the file names before uploading fixes it. A workaround, but it might help until they fix this bug.
