Notify Champion when parents/ninjas users join a Dojo. #1138

Currently an email goes to Dojo email when a mentor/champion joins - this is to approve the mentor/champion.

The idea is that this email will just be a notification, not an approval email like the current, for any other users who do not have to be approved (i.e. parents, O13 youth). Idea for text below;

'Hi,

A new user has joined your Dojo, [Dojo Name], as a [role].

This user has been automatically added to your Dojo. You can manage your users [here](link to manage users).

Thanks,

The CoderDojo Foundation'

@DanielBrierton @Wardormeur not sure how easy the manage users link would be considering it is dependent on the Dojo?

How about implemeting a notification system instead of spamming emails ? I know that emails is a quite a short time development solutions but it shouldn't be used the way we do, we're way to verbose imho.

It could be a digest of additions from the week maybe?

rosalanghammer commented 7 years ago

Think digestible is a good idea - though just for this as mentor applications need to be separate as they will be built out to have more information.

Also an idea is that this could be an optional email/notification as not all Dojos want to know about parents/kids joining.

Until you can email the user through the platform it feels weird to not give the Champion ideas of what they need to do next here - i.e. get in touch with this parent/user to explain what happens next - Should contain some next steps for the Champion as this could be the first contact that Champions/Admins have with newly interested parents/kids.

e.g. 'Email your new user to explain how to attend your Dojo' could be added into email.

In this case a reply to with the parents email could make sense to make this as easy as possible? Would like to hear some community feedback on this.

Main concern is the relatively in-active Champions who ignore new members when they join.

If it's a digest it cannot contain a replyTo

rosalanghammer commented 7 years ago

True this is considering one by one emails only not digest.
