Add a comment in the issue too.

The procedure which should be followed:

Look for the issues
Find the issue on which you are comfortable working
Notify the maintainers in comments of the issue you are working on.
Start working
Create PR and wait for the Code Review by the maintainers

As you already have made the changes and created the PR, just add a comment in the issue referencing this pull request and you are good to go!
