When I launch the latest version of the mod on the 1.14.4 version of minecraft, the JEI GUI disappears. 2019-09-16_03 10 00

hmm... I've never had this happen to me..

The previous version does not cause such a bug.

Do you have any other mods? If so try using just jei and the cheese mod and add mods one at a time to see if it's something else...

So, it might be jei messing up I'm having trouble using it in the dev environment...

That's the default keybind for toggling JEI
