i was thinking of making something like this. i found these pure css methods of making graphs - http://speckyboy.com/2009/02/04/16-usable-css-graph-and-bar-chart-tutorials-and-techniques/

personally i would add a general site-wide graph, possibly to replace the community stats widget that is added by widget_manager and also a personal stats graph (which i would use on the activity stream page). the group widget is a great idea too.
