What do you think about we adding the shell commands to a Makefile so that we can use the targets (with popular naming like 'start-app', 'run-tests') to execute them?

Good idea, but I am not sure if it is worth adding another dependency for that developers need to install.
The commands are probably simple enough.

However, I will look into this option.
