Cannot deleted more then two chars ar once with AOSP keyboard #2438

Describe the bug Cannot delete more then two chars with ‘backspace’ key. This releated to Calc and Writer (have not check with Impress).

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Open and edit a document.
  2. Go to the end of some text.
  3. Delete a char with backspace key.

Expected behavior Subsequential chars are deleted.

Actual behavior Only two chars are deleted and it stucks. It is required to reopen the decument to delete in that way next tow chars.

As far as we know this occurs when using AOSP keyboard (or perhaps other less common on-screen keyboards), and should be fine with Gboard.

I checked it with the OpenBoard keybord : same issue.

I do not understand why force people to use Google Gboard instead of fixing the bug for at least one open source independent keybord.

Please consider a fix.

I am having the same problem and there's no way I am installing gboard as my phone is google free. A fix would be appreciated.

Still so with AOSP keyboard only, not any other, in 21.11 and 23.05 snapshot app.

Same problem on Android. Only one symbol can be erased at a time. App version: 24.04.7.3 Android Version: 12
