Something I like about this mod is the variety of plants that are in the game; it's fun to come across an eggplant or an artichoke and think "I wonder what I can make with this" But with so many edibles, food rotting away becomes an issue. How can I stock a pantry with ingredients when they don't last? And so I begin to wonder what methods of food preservation have been invented by mankind over the ages.

  • [ ] Smoking/drying food into things like jerky and trail mix.
  • [ ] Curing with hot spices to prevent bacterial growth
  • [ ] Pickling vegetables, eggs, meat
  • [ ] Packing in ice/snow

• This science-fiction game has some unusual environments that could allow for things that don't exist on earth:

  • [ ] Packing in lava to keep it too hot for bacteria to grow
  • [ ] Radioactive refrigeration -- a reverse microwave
  • [ ] Poison treated food -- the right mix kills bacteria but some races can still eat the treated food.
  • [ ] Glands of some alien species produce a fluid that cures meat

you could also add that kinda sorta drying process they use to make food for astronauts or something. i dont quite remember but it was something about drying in vacuum or something else. its like, made fruit and such that was unperishable and could be rehydrated to be ready to eat again
