Revert partial implementation of query params #33

I've gotten commit privileges now from @ColtonProvias to help get the code here into good shape and start reviewing patches. So this first patch from me reverts all the commits that were Colton's partial implementation of query params. I'm putting all this up via this PR, just to give others visibility into this work.

After this is merged, I'll start taking a look at the other PRs.
