To link a chest within the locomotive: Place an iron or steel chest. Open the chest and press the button in the top right.

To To link a chest within the locomotive, you need to buy Linked chest from Locomotive Market. Then place the chest and link it to the other end of the linked chest.

And Placing steel chests near cargo wagons enables you to quickly move content.
