The game doesn't start. It gets into the paradox launcher but when you click play it just crashes.

Lutris installation of the Epic Games version seems to rely on the Paradox Launcher, might be worth a shot: https://lutris.net/games/cities-skylines/

When I try Lutris it just gives me this error: image

Using Proton outside of Steam is not supported. Please try to reproduce your issue with Wine/Wine-GE.
